A downtrodden poor person was beaten up

A person named Joginder Singh, who came from Uttarakhand in a nearby village after being kept in Isolation, caused some scuffles after some people in his village harassed him by calling him corona  and uttering caste-related words. The person was seriously injured by people attacking with sharp weapons. After being attack, victim  was taken to a government hospital in Harchowal where doctors also had a negative role towards the person.

Giving information in this regard, Joginder Singh son of Chanan Singh resident of village Cheema told that he belongs to Dalit family and used to work in a company in Uttarakhand, due to lockdown, when he came home, he was kept in isolation for some days and later when he reached his home in the village. He used to be bothered by uttering corona and caste-related words to make fun by some persons of the village. When he got irritated and asked them to stop, they entered the house in mid night of May 28, and started attacking him with sharp weapons and threatening to kill family members as well. On which he complained to the police station Qadian, then the police sent him to the civil hospital. He told that he went to the civil hospital for treatment where the doctors put his stitches and tricked his sons into writing that they did not have to take any action. The two parties have been summoned by the police on 29 May at the police station Qadian, where again the other party started harassing the said person by uttering caste related words and refused to apologize to him. Not only this, the other party injured themselves and has been admitted to the civil hospital batala later on 29 may. In his complaint given to the police, Joginder Singh has demanded strict action against the accused and legal action as per rules, demanding a high-level inquiry. Later he complained to SSP Batala Upinderjit Singh Ghumman and SDM Batala in this regard, but no action has been taken in the case so far. On the other hand, the President of the New Christian sabha, Neetu Kholsa, said that it has been 73 years since the country was set free, but it is unfortunate that even today, some people use racist words to hurt the feelings of others. She has demanded strict action against such people from the police administration. She said that if action is not taken against the people concerned, in this case, the struggle will be forced to intensify.When it was talked to the police station in-charge Parminder Singh in this regard, he told that action is being taken on the complaint related to this matter and 326 report of the other party has come which is under investigation whether it is on the day of dispute or later. Action will be taken after investigation.When civil surgeon Gurdaspur Dr. Kishan Chand was talked about in this regard, he said that if a fight-related case comes up, the patient has to be admitted but if the patient himself writes that he does not want to take any action then it is a different matter. But still he will get an inquiry in this matter.
